It always feels wonderful to have work finished and photographed. I am working towards a late May deadline for my show coming up at
Guardino Gallery with
Lisa Kaser. Lisa will be exhibiting her brilliant 3 dimensional creatures which are a very good fit with my paintings.
I am in a good place with the work right now. I have 4 pieces in process, have 2 completed, and am ready to start a couple more. It is always best for me to have 5 or 6 paintings in different stages of completion - that way I don't get too precious about things that I am having trouble letting go of and have the benefit of a reward process going on with pieces that are in the sweet spot : the point during the process of painting where I get my pay off. A sort of sinking in happens, I start to see the imagery and I find it compelling. I will actually feel myself becoming "interested". I am in a position to see the problem has unfolded completely and I am close to solving it. Sometimes I slow down just to savor it. Other times I set it aside and work on another piece to make sure I don't push it somewhere it does not want to go. Kind of like letting it rest before completion.
